REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- Indonesian non-oil processing industries developed significantly in recent years, recording a growth of 5.34 percent in 2014, the industry minister said.
Industry Ministry Saleh Husin made the remarks during a coordination meeting with the regional administration of West Java here on Tuesday.
Non-oil processing industries posted higher growth in 2014 than in 2013, when the recorded economic growth was 5.06 percent, he noted.
"The processing industries sector has become a major contributor (20.84 percent) to the Gross Domestic Product," Husin added.
In addition, the government has also set a target to improve at least 9,000 large- and medium-scale industries.
"Some 50 percent of these industries are beyond the Java Island," the minister pointed out.
