REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo has rejected the clemency plea of Nigerian drug convict on death row Silvester Obiekwe, Attorney General HM Prasetyo stated here on Friday.

"The decision has been made. Silvester's request is rejected," he noted.

Recently, Silvester was caught conducting narcotic business from the premises of the Nusakambangan penitentiary in Cilacap, Central Java, where he has so far spent time after being sentenced to death for a drug crime.

Attorney General Prasetyo stated that as his request for clemency has been declined, thus it means that Silvester's execution will be carried out in due course of time.

"As the request has been rejected, the next phase is execution," he noted.

The attorney general however remarked that he had yet to decide the date for his execution.

"Let us just wait for it," he added.

Prasetyo earlier confirmed that Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan, the two Australian members of the Bali Nine drug ring who are on death row, will be transferred from the LP Kerobokan penitentiary in Bali to LP Nusakambangan.

The decision has been taken after the local government officials, including the governor of Bali, had appealed for the execution to be done outside Bali.

In view of that, he has earlier suggested Nusakambangan as the appropriate location for carrying out their executions.

Prasetyo revealed that they have not yet reached a decision regarding when they would be transferred to Nusakambangan, and the Bali authorities will decide the date.

"They have not reported when it will be done," he added.
