REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BATAM -- Marine and Fisheries Minister Susi Pujiastuti has confirmed that President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, will not be influenced by Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri in every policy he formulates.

"It is impossible for Megawati to influence President Jokowi, nor can the President do likewise," Susi said during the National Press Day Convention on Mass Media on Saturday.

According to her, the President and Megawati are great individuals, who have their own attitude and nature, so they will not be able to influence each other.

"Therefore, let them take their own decision," the Minister said, adding that she is very proud and excited to be able to interact with these two great figures of Indonesia.

Susi remarked that Megawati was an exceptional woman, because no other woman in the country had been able to become the President of Indonesia five times.

Asked about the problems between the National Police (Polri) and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the Minister said: "Let the KPK do the right thing."

The National Press Day in Batam is being observed through seminars on Strengthening Maritime Economy of Nusantara, Healthy Press: Competitive and Accountable Media, and The Glory of Indonesia in the Hands of Next Generation.

Besides the Marine and Fisheries Minister, other speakers at the seminar included, among others Paramadina University Rector Firmanzah, Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Deputy Chairman Didie Soewondho, Financial Service Authority Chairman Muliaman D Hadad, Riau Islands Deputy Governor Soerya Respationo, and PT Pelabuhan Indonesia-I Director Bambang Eka Cahyana.
