REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Cabinet Secretary has provided three considerations for President Joko Widodo over the National Police issue after Police Chief candidate Commissioner General Budi Gunawan is named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"We have formulated three considerations in accordance with Law No. 22/2002 on Police, that the President should obtain agreement from the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) in proposing a National Police chief candidate," Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjojanto said here on Wednesday.

Andi made the remarks during a hearing with Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR) at the Parliament building.

He explained about the three considerations.

First, the president should take into account the political process in the DPR.

Second, the president should pay attention to the legal process in the DPR.

Third, the president should take into account the social and ethics considerations in society.

Andi said that the cabinet secretary as a presidential staff has the obligation to prepare a legal framework on anything to be decided by the president.

He said that the president should carefully make calculations on something being on the spotlight.

"We do not have the right to put pressures on the President. We are ready anytime when the President needs data and inputs," Andi added.

He explained that President Joko Widodo in carrying out the good governance should summon the KPK, National Police (Polri) and elements in society.

The matter is expected to provide the President with inputs on the Polri chief position.

"Stakeholders can provide inputs that the President could use to make a decision on the National Police Chief," he said.
