REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) delegation raised the issue of investment hurdles with President Joko Widodo here on Monday.
"In a meeting, they complained about land acquisition problems, high energy cost, and distribution obstacles," said Industry Minister Saleh Husin who accompanied the President to receive the JCCI delegation at the Merdeka Palace.
Saleh Husin stated that they expressed hope that the government will come up with a policy to improve the competitiveness of products from the country.
In response, he added, President Joko Widodo expressed his commitment to wiping out all obstacles.
"One of the investment projects they cited as an example was the power plant project in Batang (Central Java). The President has already summoned several parties concerned and has promised that the issues pertaining to the project will be settled immediately," he revealed.
Saleh Husin remarked that the JCCI delegation of some 30 members was led by Chairman Akio Mimura. They have invited President Joko Widodo to visit Japan, he added.
Besides Saleh Husin, President Joko Widodo was also accompanied to the meeting by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Sofyan Djalil, Trade Minister Rachmat Gobel, Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto, and chief of the presidential staff Luhut Panjaitan.
