Bantul to develop industrial areas

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANTUL -- The Industry Trading and Cooperative Office of Bantul District, Yogyakarta Province, is formulating a master plan for industrial area development in several sub-districts, Sulistyanto, the head of office, noted here on Tuesday.

"We are preparing the master plan and doing a feasibility study for a number of areas to become industrial regions," he remarked.

According to him, the province's spatial plan mentions the three potential sub-districts of Piyungan, Sedayu, and Pajangan to be developed as industrial areas.

"It means the industrial areas in Bantul will be developed in the three sub-districts and have an area of at least 50 hectares," Sulistyanto stated.

The total area of the industrial regions will be hundred hectares that are mostly located in Piyungan and are spread across Srimulyo and Sitimulyo villages.

"We prioritize Piyungan as the area with the potential for industrial development. There is 122 hectares and will be expanded to 330 hectares," Sulistyanto stated, adding that several companies have now built their infrastructure in Piyungan that is spread across nine hectares.
