REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LEBAK -- President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo is now building communications with the Red-White Coalition (KMP) because he feels he has disturbance with his supporting Indonesia Great Coalition (KIH) in recent days, an observer said.

"Therefore, Jokowi held a meeting with the general chairman of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto, in the Bogor Palace to build communications with the KMP," political observer Agus Sutisna of the Tangerang Muhammadiyah University (UMT), said here on Thursday.

Agus said, in politics, Jokowi has no problem with having communications with the KMP to obtain support for his government.

"In politics, there is no permanent rival but permanent interest," he noted.

Thus, it is normal if Jokowi meets with Prabowo to build communications with the KMP.

So far, Jokowi felt that KIH as his supporting coalition was disturbing with regard to the National Police chief candidate Commissioner General Budi Gunawan.

Apart from that there is also an internal rift within the KIH.

However, he said, the KMP should remain committed as a respectable balancing power.

"We are convinced the meeting between Jokowi and Prabowo will have positive impacts on advancement of the nation," Agus remarked.

He said that Prabowo should remain to be careful and show his statesmanship.

Prabowo should restrict himself to giving suggestions and considerations only, for examples, on matters relating to commitment to fight corruption and to the dynamics of the national affairs.

General Chairman of the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) Prabowo Subianto met President Joko Widodo at the Bogor Palace, West Java, on Thursday.

"I will visit him for a courtesy meeting. The president came to my house when he was to be installed. I have, as yet, had no time to meet him in his house so far," Prabowo noted.

He noted that Jokowi "is also willing to meet me. We are two citizens, and the leaders who always work towards building harmonious relations. I think it is just like that."

Prabowo reiterated that he supported the Jokowi administration and believed the president's decisions on police chief figure and the police-anti graft agency KPK conflict would be in accordance with the people's wish.

"So, we briefly touched about his commitment to strengthen the state institutions. We support both Police and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) which are equally important. Together, we must protect them," Prabowo Subianto said after meeting President Jokowi in the Bogor Palace, Thursday.

Prabowo Subianto said he respected whatever decisions to be taken by the president who has received the mandate from the Indonesian people.

"I am sure he will prioritize the interest of the Indonesian people, and will choose the best for the national interest," he added.
