REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Industrial estate developer PT Jababeka will collaborate with the government and partners to develop cities in Indonesia as Special Economic Zones for tourism.
"The company plans to develop an independent, modern city in every province, and provide employment to improve standards of living," President Director of Jababeka, Setyono Djuandi Darmono, said here on Thursday.
He explained that Jababeka had developed an integrated township in Tanjung Lesung, Pandeglang, Banten to support the tourism industry.
"By building tourism infrastructure, the need for other industries will emerge," he affirmed.
Besides Tanjung Lesung, Jababeka and Semcorp Singapore have been developing Kendal in Central Java to transform it into an industrial area, Darmono stated.
"Investments can resolve the social and economic inequalities in Indonesia, which will, in turn, encourage the middle class to become stronger," he remarked.
Moreover, Corporate Secretary of Jababeka, Muljadi Suganda, pointed out that the company had allocated a capital expenditure of Rp735 billion to support the expansion.
"A capital expenditure of some Rp600 billion will be used in 2015 for the projects in Cikarang and Kendal, while Rp135 billion will be used for infrastructure development," he noted.
The president director further added that a lot of amount will be used by the company for land acquisition. Jababeka prefers to have land in stock and await opportunities, after which it adjusts the capital expenditures.
