REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MEDAN -- The Indonesian Rectors Forum (FRI), that brings together all rectors and directors of the higher learning institutes, is expected to provide inputs to the government to help in national development ventures.

Rector of the North Sumatra University (USU) Prof Dr Dr Syahril Pasaribu made the remarks in his address at the opening of FRI 2015 at the campus auditorium here on Saturday.

The FRI gathering was aimed at broadening insight and intellectual exchanges, both critical and collaborative.

"The (gathering) is expected to make a positive contribution to national development through economic and environmental approaches, (and help strengthen) legal and maritime security, so as to uphold the sovereignty of the State as the axis of the maritime world," Syahril stated.
