REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) affirmed that as a large country, Indonesia should consolidate all central and regional level organizations in order to realize the plan and idea being jointly envisioned.
"Consolidation of organizations in a large county like Indonesia needs to be done," the president stated during a meeting at the Bogor Palace here on Friday (23/1).
Jokowi held the second day of meeting on Friday in close heels to the first one held the day before with mayors and district heads from Sumatra, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, and Kalimantan.
"A meeting such as this can be held not only once but also twice or thrice a year, depending on the needs," President Jokowi noted.
He remarked that such a meeting with the leaders from 416 districts and 98 cities across Indonesia should be held as one of the steps to consolidate all organizations in a large country like Indonesia.
The two-day meeting was held to discuss economic growth and the government's agenda related to improving productivity in the agricultural sector, and strengthening transportation and maritime infrastructure.
Also discussed at the meeting were ways to empower small islands and coastal area dwellers, improve the investment climate, strengthen energy infrastructure, tackle obstacles encountered in licensing, and the overlapping of legislation.
