REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PANGKALAN BUN -- National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) confirmed that it has found the cockpit of AirAsia QZ8501. The cockpit was found two days ago, but it was successfully identified today using side scan from Geosurvey ship.

"A part of the cockpit is in the mud. The divers are trying to dive," Operational Director of Basarnas, Supriyadi, said on Friday, January 16.

The divers will check the condition of the cockpit. If it is possible, the cockpit will be evacuated as the instruments can help the investigation.

About 16 ships and 8 aircrafts are searching for the victims and debris in the 20th day of the rescue. Supriyadi said the rescue would be concentrated in the bottom of the sea. "Our mission is to evacuate bodies and debris for investigation," he said.
