REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEKASI -- Industry Minister Saleh Husin inspected the Shell lubricating oil plant development project in the Marunda Center Warehouse and Industrial Zone in Bekasi, West Java, on Tuesday (13/1).

On the occasion, he expressed hope that the presence of the Shell plant will help to boost the national lubricating oil industry's performance.

He also hoped the plant will create jobs for workers, increase the country's foreign exchange income from exports of its products, and reduce lubricating oil imports.

He pointed out that the plant is the sixth to be developed by Shell in the ASEAN region after Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, with a production capacity of 120 thousand tons a year.

The plant will be the largest to be operated by the international oil company in Indonesia.

"This must be lauded because Shell Indonesia uses world-class technology in its blending, filing, and packaging processes that help to create an eco-friendly industry to promote sustainable development," the minister stated.

Minister Husin also inspected the jetty facility at the zone.

He hoped the jetty facility can create a synergy in logistic integration that will help to facilitate smoother distribution of raw materials and finished products.
