REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- Bank Indonesia (BI) said it will promote the electronic system of payment or e-money transactions in 2015.
"In 2014 , there was already a rising trend of e-money transactions , but the use of currencies is still dominant. Therefore, more aggressive education is needed this year," head of the West Java branch of BI Rosmaya Hadi said here on Tuesday (6/1)
Slowly but steadily non cash transactions are on the increase in West Java, Rosmaya said.
Demand for cash is still high in West Java During the Christmas and new year days the central bank branch of West Java has to provide Rp9.4 trillion cash, she said.
"Promotion of the use if e-money , BI teams up with higher educational institutes in West Java such as Unpad, IPDN and Ikopin Bandung, as well as social organizations," she added.
Meanwhile Head e-Banking of Bank Mandiri Rahmat B Triaji said payments with e-money grew such as e-payment toll for toll road fee.
"Sistem e-payment toll serves an effective education in the use of e-money. We set the target of one million transactions a month," Rahmat said.
