Bodies from missing Air Asia QZ8501 to be identified in Surabaya

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- Bodies who are suspected as victims of missing Air Asia flight QZ8501 will be identified in Bhayangkara Hospital, Surabaya. East Java Police Department has prepared to identify the bodies.

"Police and medical team have prepared the equipments, including cold storage," Head of Public Relations at East Java Police Department, Awi Setiyono, said on Wednesday, December 31. Every cold storage can contain up to 80 bodies.

Police also moved Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) post to Mahameru Building in East Java Police Headquarter. At least 40 doctors and medical team from East Java Health Department, universities, and other institutions are ready.

Police will command the identification process. Setiyono said that the police also provided a place for next of kin of the victims and media center in Mahameru Building.
