REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (PPN/BAPPENAS) Rachmat Pambudy stated that the indication of the economic growth target in the Government Work Plan (RKP) for 2026 is 6.3 percent.

“The development goals in the RKP in 2026 are focused on sustainable high economic growth with a highlight of economic growth of 6.3 percent,” he said in Rakorenbang 2025: Development Planning Policy Directive 2026 held by the Ministry of Interior (Kempendagri) virtually in Jakarta, Wednesday (12/3/2025).

In addition to targeting economic growth of 6.3 percent, some of the development goals of the RKP 2026 are Gross National Income (GNI) per capita of USD 5,870, a decrease in greenhouse gas (GHG) emission intensity of 37.14 percent, an environmental quality index of 76.67 percent, a poverty rate of 6.5-7.5 percent, a GNI ratio of 0.377 to 0.380, and a human capital index of 0.57 percent.

For the economic growth targets of Indonesia's Western Region (KBI) and Eastern Region of Indonesia in 2026, 6.1 percent and 7.1 percent, respectively. Thus, the territorial gap between provinces and between regions can be reduced.

“The figures that we are projecting for 2026 are not impossible numbers, even if we can increase this number again with the support of Mrs. and Mr. (local government), then economic growth can be high, equality can be higher and inequality will fall, and we expect the well-being of our people to improve as well,” said Head Bappenas.

He believes that high economic growth is essential to increase regional income as well as per capita income, so it will help improve people's well-being.

“In fact, we've had economic growth above 5 percent and many times we've done in the 70s, 80s and even the 90s we've had growth above 8 percent. So, the 8 percent growth (target of 2029) is not something magical, not something impossible,” Rachmat said.

Currently, Bappenas is said to be drafting the 2026 RKP based on the direction of RI President Prabowo Subianto so that the implementation of government budget utilization is directed to programs and activities that support job creation, promote technological breakthroughs, support food and energy self-sufficiency, and increase productivity.

Productivity improvement is carried out through Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programs, superior schools, acceleration of regional Hospitals (RS), digital transformation, bureaucratic reform, ease of doing business, defense of the universe, as well as adaptive macroeconomic and fiscal stability.

In food and energy self-sufficiency, the implementation of food barns, the development of renewable energy, and the development of the Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) upstream downstream will be supported.

In connection with the acceleration of inclusive economic growth, there will be an acceleration of the downstream of natural resources and the acceleration of poverty alleviation (three million homes and digitization of aid).

Based on the directive, the draft theme of the RKP for 2026 was formulated, namely “Increasing Productivity for Food and Energy Self-Sufficiency, and Accelerating Inclusive Economic Growth.

Among a number of strategies and measures to accelerate the achievement of the 2026 economic growth target are increased productivity from export-oriented industrialization (downstream) and labor-intensive programs, increased agricultural productivity towards food self-sufficiency, and then energy self-sufficiency through a green economy.

Then also an increase in technological innovation through digital transformation, as well as an increase in productive investments especially Foreign Direct Investment or export-oriented Foreign Capital Investment and non-budgetary State Expenditure Income (APBN) investments.

“The whole strategy needs to be supported by deregulation of licensing and stable macroeconomic conditions,” said the Minister of VAT.
