Indonesia gears up for Asian Games 2018

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia is gearing up to hold Asian Games 2018. Vice President Jusuf Kalla warned  that the country needed great technical preparation for the event.

"We need total repair in infrastructure," Kalla said after meeting Director of Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Husain al Musallam on Tuesday, December 23.

Kalla expressed his hope that the multi-sport event to be successfull. He cited an example on the previous Asian Games held in Incheon, South Korea, which attracted more than 1.3 billion watchers.

"Everybody will watch this event so we are better prepared," he said. 

It is the second time that Indonesia hosts Asian Games. The 2018 Asian Games will be held in Bandung, Palembang and Jakarta. meanwhile, Husain al Musallam said the meeting with Kalla was to discuss the preparation for the event. 

"We want to ensure the venues and human resources (for the event)," he said after meeting with Kalla.

During his visit in Indonesia, he has met sport associations, parliament and government. He reminded that work hard was needed to ensure the success of the Asian Games 2018.
