REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir reiterated the importance of promoting sharia economic growth as part of the national economic balance. He presented this in the event of Anugerah Sharia Republika and Anugerah Adinata Sharia which is a series of Indonesia Sharia Forum (ISF) 2025 at Le Meridien Hotel, Jakarta, Monday (26/5).
“Alhamdulillah, this is a positive event because I don't think there are many awards for sharia economics. This is part of how we grow the sharia economy so the economic balance,” Erick said.
According to Erick, sharia economics has great potential in driving the overall growth of the national economy. Sectors such as the halal industry, sharia-based tourism, and sharia financial products are considered to be important pillars of Indonesia's economic progress.
“We know this sharia economy to be one also for the overall growth of the national economy. Moreover, we can see a lot of sharia economic potential in Indonesia, starting from halal industry, tourism, etc., which is of course very important,” he continued.
Erick also stressed the importance of consolidating and strengthening the sharia financial sector which is the backbone of the development of the sharia economy. The SOE ministry, he said, continues to push for strategic measures to strengthen the sharia financial infrastructure in the country.
“We from the Ministry of state-owned enterprises are pushing for consolidation, which I always say. It is impossible for the sharia economy to grow without sharia finance,” said Erick, who is also the General Chairman of the Sharia Economic Society (MES).
He also explained concrete steps that have been taken, such as strengthening sharia banks, sharia insurance, to the development of future sharia financial models.
“Therefore, we encourage the growth of sharia banks, sharia insurance, and sharia financial patterns in the future,” Erick concluded.
