REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Prabowo Subianto says Indonesia and Thailand support an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, Palestine.
President Prabowo also said that Indonesia and Thailand were pushing for the immediate opening of access to humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people in Gaza.
“We are pushing for an immediate ceasefire in Palestine. We also encourage access to humanitarian assistance, and reiterate that the peace process should be through a two-state solution. President Prabowo said during a joint statement with Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra at Government House in Bangkok, Thailand on Monday.
The issue of the Palestinian people's struggle for independence and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza were among the topics discussed during a bilateral meeting between the Indonesian Government and the Thai Government chaired by President Prabowo and PM Paetongtarn at Government House, Bangkok on Monday.
During the same meeting, the two sides also discussed the humanitarian crisis in Myanmar, then on ASEAN, as well as strategic cooperation between Indonesia and Thailand in areas ranging from economy and trade, halal industry, health, and energy.
The Thai government delegation that attended the bilateral meeting consisted of Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, Anutin Chanvirakul, as well as ministers Chusak Sirinil, Jiraporn Sindhuprai, Tawee Sodsong, Akanat Promphan, and Deputy Ministers Paopoom Rojanasakul.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian delegation accompanying President Prabowo consisted of Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Cabinet Secretary Lt. Col. Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Indonesian Ambassador to Thailand Rachmat Budiman.
After concluding the bilateral meeting at Phakdi Bodin Building, Government House, President Prabowo and PM Paetongtarn delivered a joint statement before Palace reporters following President Prabowo, and journalists on duty at the Thai PM's office.
From Government House, President Prabowo and a limited entourage were scheduled to continue their journey to the Thai Air Force Air Base in Don Mueang, to return home. The PK-GRD Presidential plane carrying the President likely landed at the AU Halim Perdanakusuma Military Air Base on Monday afternoon.
