REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SINGAPORE -- Singapore is "deeply saddened by the tragic death of Minister Ziad Abu Ein," said a spokesman from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Singapore on Thursday (12/12).
Palestinian Minister of Settlement Ziad Abu Ein died on Wednesday after being assaulted by Israeli soldiers during a mass rally in a village near the West Bank city of Ramallah.
In respond to media inquiries over this issue, MFA said they are "very concerned" about media reports of excessive use of force by Israeli security personnel, adding that a transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding Minister Abu Ein' s death is needed.
"We also urge all sides to exercise maximum restraint and avoid escalating tensions. This tragedy underscores the urgent need for Israel and the Palestinians to resume negotiations towards a lasting and durable peace." MFA said.
