Two Indonesian wushu athletes win gold medals

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG -- Two Indonesian Wushu athletes competing in the 17th ASEAN University Games (POM ASEAN) won a gold medal each here on Thursday (11/12).

One of the athletes, Achmad Hulaefi, who competed in the Chang Quan category, won the game with a score of 9.69, while Quan Lindswell, the other athlete, won the Taiki female category with a score of 9.72.

Hulaefi defeated Malaysian player Wong Weng Son, who scored 9.67 and secured the silver medal. Myanmar Wushu athlete Thuya Soe won the bronze medal with a score of 9.22 in this category.

Indonesia's Lindswell defeated Malaysian player Ng Shin Yii, who scored 9.66 and won the silver medal, while Singapore's Wushu athlete occupied the third position with a score of 8.74.

Earlier, the Indonesian men's Taekwondo team in the Poomsae category scored 74,200, defeating Thailand's team, which scored 72,500. Singapore came in third with score of 71,250.

The Indonesian Taekwondo team included Maulana Haidir, Muhammad Fazza, and Muhammad Abdurahman Wahyu.

The 17th POM ASEAN, which began on December 10 and will go on till December 21, will see 20 sports events, including martial arts, swimming, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, archery, football, and sepak takraw.

The POM ASEAN was opened by Vice President Jusuf Kalla on Wednesday night.
