REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Maritime and Fishery Affairs Susi Pudjiastuti forms a task force to monitor illegal fishing. The task force is under Minister of Maritime and Fishery Affairs Decree on task force to exterminate illegal unreported and unregulated fishing.

"I have signed the decree," Pudjiastuti said earlier this week.

Chaired by Deputy VI of Presidential Working Unit for Supervision and Management of Development (UKP4) Achmad Santosa, the team includes Bank Indonesia, Customs, Indonesian National Police, The Financial Transaction Report and Analysis Center (PPATK) and Ministry of Transportation.

Participation of PPATK is important to prevent money laundering. Santosa said that illegal fishers might conduct money laundering, especially for big fishers.

Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is also involved in the task force to exterminate illegal fishers from the root. "It is a prevention towards corruption," Santosa said.

Santosa said the team had to work together without conflict of interest as they would verify foreign vessels. He will report such conflict to Minister Pudjiastuti. "I will ask her to replace the conflicting party," he said.
