REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice President Jusuf Kalla plans to impose travel ban for delinquent taxpayers. Indonesia has applied similar policy to corruptors.

"If we can prevent corruptors to go abroad, we can also prevent delinquent taxpayers," Jusuf Kalla said on Monday, December 8. Businesses must pay tax on time to prevent such action.

Chairman of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Suryo Bambang Sulisto appreciated government's move which increased the target of tax ratio from 12 to 16 percent. Sulisto said tax must be focused on extensification of existing taxpayers instead of looking for new taxpayers.

Earlier, Vice Minister of Finance Mardiasmo asked Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to monitor leakage of state revenue in tax sector. Government's target on state revenue in tax sector reaches 600 trillion IDR in state budget 2015. KPK and Directorate General of Tax will form a body to investigate delinquent taxpayers.

"We will bring tax mafia to justice. For instance, we have seen that many holders of Mining Business Permit (IUP) do not have Tax Identification Number (NPWP)," he said.

KPK stated that 25 percent out of 3,826 holders of IUP do not have NPWP. Even those who obtain status clean and clear fail to show their NPWP.
