REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR -- Bogor Botanical Garden has been reopened for public after being closed for two days as a result of strong winds that caused 18 trees inside it to fall, the park's authority said here Tuesday (2/12).

"Today's weather condition is more conducive than that of Sunday and Monday. Thus, we reopen the garden for public," Head of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences- Bogor Botanical Garden Didik Widiatmoko told Antara.

The city of Bogor and its surrounding areas had been hit by strong winds on Sunday and Monday, endangering the botanical garden's visitors.

Therefore, the park that is located in the heart of Bogor and has existed since 1744, was then closed for public for the sake of the visitors' safety, Widiatmoko said.

The strong winds which pummeled the city on Sunday and Monday had caused 18 trees to fall, including 13 plants that were in the list of the garden's collections, he said.

The Bogor Botanical Garden, which is about 60 kilometers away from the Indonesian capital city of Jakarta, is famous for both local and foreign visitors.
