REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA -- Department of Education, Youth and Sports of Yogyakarta launches application to learn Javanese Script. By downloading the apps, people can learn how to read and write the Hanacaraka.
"The apps is intended to preserve Javanese script," Governor of DIY Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X on Tuesday, November 25.
Javanese script is one of Indonesian heritages. Each alphabet has a meaning related to human as a creature of God and human in social life. However, only 30 percent of people living in Yogyakarta can write the script and language.
The Head of Technology, Communication and Education Office at the department Singgih Raharjo said by combining technology and culture, people would be interested in learning the language. "The apps also ease the access for those who want to learn Javanese script," he said.
The application consists of overview of Javanese script, Learning Javanese Script, Game, Help and About the Apps. The Overview has three sub menus, which is the Importance of Javanese Script, History of Javanese Script and Philosophy of Javanese Script.
