REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A number of Muslim scholars from Southeast Asia will declare a Southeast Asian Ulema Association and hold its first congress in Depok, West Java, on November 28-29, 2014.
"The declaration and first congress of the Southeast Asian ulema association is intended as a consolidation forum for the Southeast Asian ulemas and Muslim propagators," chief organizer and conference initiator Muhammad Zaitun Rasmin said in a press statement here on Sunday. (23/11)
The Southeast Asian ulema association and first congress event will carry a theme: "Developing Southeast Asian Moderate Civilization".
Muslim figures from the bureaucracy and advisers such as Malaysian Deputy Foreign Minister Hamzah Ismail Luthfi and Deputy Chairman of the Indonesia Ulemas Council (MUI) Hidayat Nurwahid will also attend and deliver address to the event.
