REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo asks President of the European Council Herman van Rompuy to ease export on palm oil. Jokowi said that the shipping of Indonesian palm oil to Europe was hampered due to EU's current policy.
"About 45 percent of palm oil is produced by local farmers. We have to find a way to ease the export," he said on Wednesday, November 19, in State Palace. Rompuy was seen receiving Jokowi's demand with pleasure. However, the businessman turned president will make sure that European Council will unravel the matter.
Since Jokowi was sworn in October 20, he has actively discussed with representatives from other countries to increase investment. Jokowi said, a meeting with European Union, the second largest investor to Indonesia, was important. "We have to maintain relationship in order to boost investment," he said.
