REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NAY PYI TAW -- Several countries in Asia offer Indonesia cooperation in maritime sector, which is the vision of Indonesia President for the country. Presiden Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo considers the offer very potential, but it needs some reviews.

"The idea of Indonesia as maritime axis has attracted many countries, but any cooperation should give benefits for Indonesia," President Jokowi said in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday, November 13. He will review their invitations before making any decision.

He mentioned that several countries attracted to cooperate with Indonesia on maritime sectors were China, South Korea and India. "China wants to build '21st century silk road' from China to Indonesia," he said. Meanwhile, India asks for cooperation on maritime defense.

Cooperation in maritime sectors, he said, was unlimited. It is ranging from fishery, natural gas to oil. "I think they are interested because two third of our territory is water," he said.
