REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta Provincial Government will buy 20 new TransJakarta buses from Swedish automotive company Scania in January 2015. The buses are claimed to be more comfortable.

"The design is quite different from the current bus," Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Purnama said on Monday, November 10.

The main difference between the new and old ones is position of the seat. The female-only seats will be forward-facing seats instead of side-facing. The male-only seats will remain the same.

Ahok said the Scania Euro 6 would also disabled-friendly. The bus will have several special chairs for the disabled and their handgrips were made lower so that those people could easily reach them.

The buses are grant from Wahana Artha Group, PT Saratoga and PT Daya Adicipta Mustika. TransJakarta targets to have 850 new buses for the next two years.

Ahok said, the new and more comfortable buses were expected to make Jakartans use public transportation. Thus, one of the main problems in Jakarta, traffic jam, will be solved.
