REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is allowed by the law to declare the names of problematic ministers in a bid to make its corruption eradication efforts a success, noted Golkar Party politician Hajriyanto Thohari.

"We trust the KPK, which is permitted by the law to do everything, including announcing the names of problematic ministers or arresting them," he stated here on Monday night.

The former leader of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) remarked that being allowed by the law, the anti-graft body can take all necessary steps pertaining to prevention and eradication of corrupt practices.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has earlier sought the KPK's assistance to evaluate the track record of his prospective cabinet ministers.

The KPK then gave red and yellow marks to several prospective ministers who were considered to have legal problems.

Jokowi replaced the names of the ministers bearing red and yellow marks by the KPK and finally announced the names of his cabinet ministers on Sunday evening at the State Palace.

After the announcement, KPK Chairman Abraham Samad said he was ready to reveal the names of the ministerial candidates who had received red marks from the anti-graft body.
