B.J. Habibie hospitalized in Bandung

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- Former Indonesian president Professor Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie has been admitted to the Borromeus Hospital of Bandung City, West Java Province, since Monday evening (Oct. 20).

"Habibie came to Borromeus to undergo a general check up on Monday evening," Kornelius Rukmana, the secretary of Borromeus Hospital, stated here on Tuesday (21/10).

Although third Indonesian president Habibie entering the hospital through the Emergency Department, the officer confirmed that he was not suffering from any severe illness.

"The patient must cross that emergency line if they come at night to the hospital," Kornelius remarked, adding that Habibie is being treated in one of the hospital rooms.

Kornelius has denied rumors that Habibie was in a critical health condition and confirmed that during treatment, the professor's condition was good.

"Habibie is in good condition. There is no special treatment given to him," Kornelius noted.

The former president, wearing a batik dress, arrived at the hospital in a Mercedes Bens bearing the B 521 RI license plate and was accompanied by five persons.

"According to the doctor, Habibie's condition was good when he at the hospital," Kornelius added.

Habibie had attended the inauguration of Indonesian President and Vice President Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla at the People's Consultative Assembly's building in Senayan.

He appeared healthy and smiled at several guests and officially greeted Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla during the inauguration.
