REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The new government's promise to implement "mental revolution" will enable Indonesia to tackle all global and regional challenges, including the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015, noted a political party leader.
Conversing with journalists before attending President Joko Widodo's inauguration here on Monday, the People's Conscience Party (Hanura) Chairman Wiranto expressed optimism that the new government will be able to deal with all challenges.
"The key word is the implementation of the 'mental revolution' that our new government has initiated as one of its main programs," he noted, adding that he was confident that Indonesia will succeed in winning the global competition.
The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician Eva Sundari earlier emphasized that mental revolution should be immediately implemented as it is the most impressive program for the public.
"Our people's mentality must firstly be reformed through the mental revolution program if the Jokowi government and its 'Trisakti' agenda have to succeed," she asserted.
The Trisakti agenda reflects the mandate of Soekarno, Indonesia's founding father, delivered on June 1, 1945, through which he wanted the nation to emerge as a country with dignity and political and economic sovereignty.
