REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - A political observer said that presidential advisory council with members including General chairwoman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) and former president Megawati Soekarnoputri, Nasdem party general chairman Surya Paloh, and Hanura party general chairman Wiranto was a necessity to help the next president.

"It is not like a power sharing, but it is needed to guarantee that the government would remain on the right track," Siti Zuhro from the Indonesian Science Institute (LIPI) said after delivering a speech at a Regional Representative Council (DPD) discussion on Wednesday.

Siti Zuhro said an advisory council was necessary in the next cabinet under the president elect Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to be installed on Oct 20. She said the capability of Jokowi was still doubted by many of those not giving their votes for him in the last presidential election. Therefore, the involvement of the three experienced leaders could at least minimize the doubt, she added.

"It is not power sharing, it is a need ," she repeated adding, "in addition, it is only a presidential advisory council."

She said Jokowi was a type of man eager to listen to advices. "Jokowi looks to have great patience. I believe he would listen," she said.
