REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- It has been two years for Jokowi leads Jakarta. The man from Solo, Central Java who is now becoming Indonesian President admitted that he still had unfinished tasks in the city.

"I still have unfinished jobs. We just completed several reservoirs to tackle flood. We just begin the construction of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and monorail to overcome traffic congestion," Jokowi said on Wednesday.

He said that Jakarta provincial government had not been able to overcome the classical problems, such as flooding and traffic congestion. However, Jokowi and his Deputy Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purna at least have initiated several programs to address these two complicated problems.

"The issues of the city transform and grow every year," Jokowi added.

Under Jokowi's leadership, Jakarta has started the program of normalization of several reservoirs, including two major reservoirs, Pluit and Ria Rio. Jokowi has also started construction of nine new reservoirs in Jakarta, including Marunda, Pondok Ranggon, Brigif and Cilangkap reservoir.

In terms of transportation, Jakarta has begun the construction of MRT project on Oct 10, 2013. The first phase MRT will run from Lebal Bulus (South Jakarta) to Kampung Bandan (North Jakarta). The physical construction currently has reached the drilling stage for underground station.
