REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Former Minister of Forestry of National Mandate Party (PAN), Zulkifli Hasan becomes Chairman of People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) through voting process on Wednesday morning. Member of Red and White Coalition (KMP) successfully taken over the position for period of 2014-2019 with four deputies.
"In the name of God, the next Chairman of MPR is Zulkifli Hasanwith four deputies, namely Oesman Sapta (Regional Representatives/DPD), Hidayat Nur Wahid (Prosperous Justice Party/PKS), Mahyudin (Golkar Party) and EE Mangindaan (Democratic Party)," said council chairperson.
KMP victory was greeted by all members of coalition, as well as PDI-P's election team Puan Maharani from Indonesia Hebat Coalition (KIH). They immediately stood up and congratulated Hasan.
Deputy secretary General of Golkar Party, Lalu Mara Satria Wangsa urged all parties to respect one another, Both KMP and KIH. According to him, the current political situation in Senayan in terms of determining the leadership composition at the House of Representatives (DPR) and MPR has been over.
"It is time to all parties to remember and carry out the legacy of our ancestor wisdom, namely war without troops, win without degrading each other," Wangsa said.
DPR and MPR should work together to conduct each function. Government supervision will be played by DPR to encourage pro-people program. For KMP itself, especially Golkar, will play role as a counterweight. It means the party will respond the new government objectively.
