REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- State owned oil and gas company, PT Pertamina recorded that subsidized fuel consumption in period of Jan 1 to Sept 30, 2014 had reached 34.9 million kiloliters (kl). Vice President of Corporate Communication in Pertamina, Ali Mundakir said that the volume of consumption was 1.7 percent higher than same period in 2013.
"By looking at the realization on Sept 30, we estimate that subsidized fuel consumption until Dec 31 will exceed the quota of Revised State Budget of 1.61 million kl," Mundakir said recently.
In addition, the actual distribution of diesel reached 11.94 million KL or grew 3.9 percent. In middle of Sept, Pertamina's Senior Vice President of Marketing and Distribution, Suhartoko reported to Commission VII at the House of Representative that the subsidized fuel distribution by the end of the year was estimated at 46.976 million kl or 1.62 million kl higher than the budget quota. Subsidized fuel consumption by Dec 31 is estimated at 29.811 million kl or 1.81 percent above the quota of 29.29 million kl.
According to the State Budget Law, if the quota runs out, the fuel will be sold with non-subsidized prices, unless the new government and parliament plans to change the State Budget Law, which allows the subsidized fuel distribution exceeding 46 million kl.
