REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Chatib Basri told the Customs and Excises Directorate General to work hard to meet revenue target in 2015.

"Only with an increase in revenue target we could cover the expenditure budget next year," Chatib said here on Wednesday.
He said the newly approved 2015 state budget was worth 2,039 trillion IDR or the largest ever in the country's history. In the first years of the 10-year administration of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono , the state budget was worth only around 300 trillion IDR to 400 trillion IDR a year, he cited.

He said state revenue target set for 2015 was 1,793.6 trillion IDR with taxes and exports and import taxes and excises the largest contributors. The finance ministry had to make do with the state revenues to meet the large state spending , he said.
"One of the heavies burdens is on the Customs and Excises Directorate General," he said.
He said in the past several years the condition was not favorable with the prices of the country's commodities plunging. In addition, Indonesia also experienced economic slowdown in the first half of the year.

However, he said, he was optimistic the Customs and Excise Directorate General could go through the challenges and meet the target. The directorate general had shown good performance so far this year, he said.

"Last year the directorate general overshoot the target by 4 percentage points," he pointed out.
