Pertamina's upstream director replaces Karen Agustiawan

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Pertamina's upstream director, Muhammad Husen replaced the position of Karen Agustiawan as president director of state owned oil and gas company. Vice President Corporate communication of Pertamina, Ali Mundakir said that the board of directors had commissioned Husen as acting president director.

"The definitive president director will be determined through a general meeting," Mundakir said on Wednesday.

Karen has resigned from her current position to pursue a teaching career at Harvard University. She has previously sought to leave her position but the government rejected her request to leave the company. The 55-year-old woman has been working in the most bankable state-owned firm for the past six years.

Karen has led Pertamina to become a Fortune Global 500 company. She officially retired from Pertamina on October 1, 2014. On Harvard University’s website, Karen is listed as one of the experts at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.
