REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- State-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina has raised the price of liquefied natural gas (LPG) in 12 kg cylinder by Rp1,500 per kg effective beginning at 00.00 hours on Wednesday, September 10, 2014.

Pertamina's Commercial and Marketing Director Hanung Budya told a press conference here on Wednesday that Pertamina had raised the price of LPG in 12 kg in an effort to offset losses suffered by the company in the LPG business.

"Beginning 00:00 hours local time on Wednesday, the price of LPG in 12 kg rises by Rp1,500 per kg or Rp18,000 per 12 kg cylinder," he said.

He said that at the consumers level the price increase ranged at between Rp21,000 and Rp22,000 per 12 kg cylinder because it should bear additional transportation cost and retailer's margin.

Before the price increase, the gas in 12 kg cylinder is sold to consumers at Rp100,000 per cylinder. With the new price increase, gas in 12 kg cylinder will be sold to consumers at Rp120,000 per cylinder.
