REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono affirmed that his meeting with the Red-White coalition members at his Cikeas private residence in Bogor, West Java, on Tuesday, was part of the talks with the true nexus of political power in the country.

"At the meeting, I was grateful and excited that the Red and White coalition has taken the stance to recognize the presidential election results, to serve the nation, and to continue its struggle for the political affairs," the president remarked after the meeting.

He pointed out that the July 9, 2014, presidential election was dynamic, and in the eyes of the international community, it took place peacefully and democratically.

Numerous leaders and functionaries of political parties who are part of the Red and White coalition held a one-hour meeting with President Yudhoyono between 7.30 a.m. and 8.30 a.m. local time, on Tuesday.

Present at the meeting were Idrus Marham and Tantowi Yahya of the Golkar Party, Fadli Zon of the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party, Syarief Hasan of the Democrat Party, Hidayat Nur Wahid and Fachry Hamzah of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), Romahurmuzy of the United Development Party (PPP), and Hatta Rajasa of the National Mandate Party (PAN), among several others.

The president noted that there was no political agenda behind his meeting with President-elect Joko Widodo, better known as Jokowi, in Bali, last Wednesday.

"As it was generally known that one week after the Constitutional Court confirmed Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla as president- and vice president-elect, I had a meeting with the president-elect in Bali," Yudhoyono stated.

He remarked that the objective of the meeting was to ensure better preparations for the transfer of power to President-elect Jokowi.

"It is my moral responsibility to provide an explanation about the agenda of the state and nation, so that the new government can be ready to assume its duties. It is important and can become a political tradition," he emphasized.

Yudhoyono dismissed the notion that a political deal was finalized with Jokowi during the meeting in Bali.

"It was an official meeting but without any political deal whatsoever," the president stated, expressing hope that it can become a political tradition to be continued by the next leader.
