REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - State owned telecommunication operator, PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) continues to expand its business into global market through new acquisition of 27 percent shares in New Zealand operator, Telecom New Zealand. Telkom CEO, Arief Yahya said that the acquisition was part of the company's strategy to become a global player.
"The are pursuing broadband and international expansion. Due dilligence to acquire 27 percent shares of Telecom NZ is under process," Yahya said on Monday.
The shares come from private equity, while the funding from internal and external funds. Telkom has current assets of 40 trillion IDR. The company seeks to invest in countries that are close to western culture, such as New Zealand and Australia.
