Yudhoyono inaugurates groundbreaking of Dili Indonesian cultural center

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DILI - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono officiated the groundbreaking ceremony of the Indonesian Cultural Center in the capital city of Timor Leste, Dili, on Wednesday. The president inaugurated the construction of the center during his state visit to Timor Leste before returning to his motherland.

The construction of the cultural center is expected to be completed by October 2015 and will have four floors and a basement. The total budget for constructing the building is 90 billion USD. The center will have a Smart Room, exhibition room, amphitheater, library, mini theater, computer laboratory, meeting hall, and a coffee shop.

During the ceremony, Yudhoyono was accompanied by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono. Timor Leste President Taur Matan Ruak and First Lady Isabel Da Costa Ferreira, Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao, and former prime minister Mari Alkatiri also attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

Yudhoyono departed from Dili and headed for Denpasar, Bali, at 2.05 pm local time. The president will attend the United Nations Alliance of Civilization (UNAOC) meeting in Goddess island and is also scheduled to meet president-elect Joko Widodo to discuss leadership transition in Indonesia.
