REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SERANG -- The Anti-Terrorism 88 Special Detachment have arrested a suspected terrorist and two persons presumed to have acquired terrorist training in Aceh and involved in Niaga Bank robbery in Medan, North Sumatra, in 2010.
"Three persons were taken by Special Forces to Jakarta. One person, who has claimed to be the wife of the suspect, has been detained in Serang Resort Police Headquarter," Chief of Serang Resort Police Senior Commissioner Adjunct Yudi Hermawan said here on Tuesday.
Police had raided a shophouse in Jalan Lingkar Selatan, Serang city, on Tuesday at 09:00 a.m.
The suspects had been staying in the two storey house rented at Rp25 million per year for two weeks. Yudi said, according to the lessor, the suspects had wanted to sell ice beverage in the house.
Yudi noted that the suspects offered little resistance when the police arrested them.
"We warned them and threw tear gas. They were hiding in the second floor," Yudi pointed out.
After the warning, the suspects, who were inside the house, surrendered. The personnel detained them at the Serang Police Headquarter before taking them to Jakarta.
"We have been targeting the suspect for several years. They had always been moving from one place to another, and we have finally arrested them here," Yudi said.
The three suspects, with initials N, Z, and H or B, had been targeted by police for several years.
The Chairman of Public Community in the area Suhaemi Muhit stated that he did not know the identities of the tenants because they had not reported to him.
"I did not know their identities because they were staying here only since two weeks. I only know the lessor, who lives in Kasemen," Suhaemi added.
