Lending growth to be aggressive in mid 2015

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Expert projected that Indonesia would still experience a slowed economic growth at the beginning of 2015, so that the new government would pursue the economic growth at mid-year. Economist of Samuel Securities, Lana Soelistianingsih said that banks would not change its lending strategy.

According to her, banks will see first how the new government under Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo's leadership implementing its various programs. Jokowi's cabinet offers expansion of pro-growth economic development. It will encourage an increase of imports values of capital goods in the country.

"In infrastructure projects for example, dam construction in Jakarta needs the imported turbine engine," Soelistianingsih said on Monday.

This condition makes bank credit will be slower at the first semester, but the prospect is always healthy until second semester. Soelistianingsih said that government needed to arrange financing sources for programs carefully. The 2015 revised budget must be able to accommodate the needs of Jokowi's cabinet.
