REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MALANG -- Bio Cell Professor of Brawijaya University in Malang, Sutiman said that tobacco growing in several districts in Indonesia was able to desist Ebola virus attack. The cure for virus is still not found now.

"Ebola virus is similar to HIV/AIDS, which still has no cure. However, to prevent the spread of virus is quite simple, namely processing tobacco as vaccine," Sutiman said in Malang on Monday.

According to him, Ebola virus transmitted through body contact or saliva, which damaged the circulatory system of blood vessels. Symptoms of Ebola virus attack on someone are marked with a hot body temperature for two days to three weeks, sore throat, muscle aches, head dizziness, vomiting and diarrhea.

Sutiman added that tobacco had many benefits for health since it was first discovered in the United States. The European brought tobacco to America as medicine from 1500 A.D. to the present.

Beside for treating certain types of diseases, tobacco can also prevent Ebola virus attack as a vaccine. It can be inserted an antybody genes.

World Health Organization (WHO) data recorded a total of 2,615 Ebola cases in the world with 1,427 deaths. The case spread in four countries in West Africa, namely Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria.
