REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Constitutional Court's (MK's) verdict to reject the pleas of the Prabowo-Hatta camp set the momentum for the revival of Indonesia, Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) deputy secretary general Hasto Kristiyanto, said.

Hasto stated on Thursday that the rejection of the pleas was evidence of de jure and de facto that Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Jusuf Kalla (JK) had been democratically elected as president and vice president.

"Now, the MK's verdict will provide momentum to the Indonesian state to revive under the leadership of Jokowi and JK as president and vice president with no further hurdles," Hasto remarked in his press statement.

He then called on all national elements to unite in welcoming the new leaders with a positive spirit.

"The basis of Jokowi-JK's legitimacy is derived from the people who hope for a better life in future," Hasto stated.

The MK's verdict had indicated that democracy in Indonesia is getting more civilized and mature, he noted.
