REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- Surabaya city will host the Investor Summit and Capital Market Expo this year, Chief of Information and Education at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) Nur Harjantie remarked here on Wednesday.

"The event will be held at the Grand City Convention Center on August 20-21.'Capital Market as an Everyday Lifestyle' is this year's theme," noted Harjantie.

According to Harjantie, the investor summit event does not target a certain number of visitors, but rather it wants to promote capital market investment potential in Indonesia. She expressed hope that the investor summit will increase the number of investors investing in Indonesia's capital market.

As of July 2014, the number of stock market investors in Indonesia reached 500 thousand people.

"By 2015, we want to have 1 million investors," Harjantie added.

However, there will be challenges while increasing the number of investors in Indonesia such as the lack of awareness among Indonesians about the capital market, she pointed out.
