REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALANGKA RAYA -- Central Kalimantan's Governor Agustin Teras Narang and Indonesian Ambassador to Brazil Sudaryomo Hartosudarmo are visiting the State of Acre, Brazil, to observe the fisheries and public housing development programs.

The governor's visit was on the sidelines of an invitation to be a guest speaker at the annual meeting of the Governors' Climate and Forests (GCF) Task Force in Rio Branco, on August 11-14, 2014, Governor Narang stated during a telephonic conversation here on Wednesday (August 13).

"My visit to the laboratory of freshwater aquaculture development in Rio Branco, which has an area of 60 hectares, has inspired me to build a similar one in Central Kalimantan," the governor noted.

According to Narang, the laboratory comprises a nursery building, fish breeding ponds, and fish feed mill. The fish species being bred are from the Amazon River and have high economic value.

The governor explained that the State of Acre involves the communities in the development of fisheries by providing them low-interest credit and facilitating as well as accommodating all the fisheries products to be sold in the market, so that the prices are reasonable for the farmers.

"I also visited the public housing projects in Acre. It was a proper example and deserved to be implemented in Indonesia, especially in Central Kalimantan," Governor Narang remarked.

He explained that the objective of his visit to Brazil was to share experiences with the local administration by giving a speech on how to build and develop a sustainable and equitable rural area at the annual meeting held in Rio Branco, Acre state.

"At the meeting, I emphasized that even though we come from different countries, but we have the same goals to protect the forests and the environment for sustainable living, for a better healthy and wealthy life for all mankind on Earth for the present and future," the governor emphasized.
