Yudhoyono launches presidential scholarship

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has launched a scholarshio program in the end of his presidential tasks named Presidential Scholarship. It is designed to prepare Indonesian future leaders.

According to presidential special staff for economic affairs, Firmanzah, president wanted that Indonesia would become a developed country by 2045 and respected by the world. Therefore, development of human resources becomes a necessary to be improved.

The Presidential Scholarship Program is prioritized for those who have the leadership mentally and coming from poor family. Applicants who are able to demonstrate her or his real contribution in community will have the added value.

"The positive change, which is given to community will be prioritized to receive this scolarship. Sense of justice is also a consideration, so that poor people can be our priority," Firmanzah said recently.

One of recipients is Raeni, Mugiyono's daughter, a pedicab (becak) driver from Semarang. Raeni was the best graduate of Diponegoro University, Semarang with a 3.96 GPA and 3.5 year study period.
