Bakauheni port sees heavy traffic two days before D-day

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BAKAUHENI - Bakauheni ferry port of Lampung saw heavy traffic of disembarking post-fasting Eid al Fitr travelers here on Saturday, two days before the holiday's D-Day on Monday and Tuesday.

At Bakauheni port on Saturday, disembarking holiday-makers were traveling from various provinces in Java heading to various regions in Sumatra, an Antara correspondent observed.

The passengers disembarking from the ferries comprised those using two-wheelers or four- wheelers and pedestrians.

The flow of arriving pedestrian passengers was high on Friday (July 25) until the early hours of Saturday. Thousands of four-wheelers arrived through six piers, namely the Plengsengan, Dermaga I, II, III, IV, and V.

However, the flow of passengers (pedestrians and those using private vehicles) from Sumatra to Java though Bakauheni port was still normal on Saturday. The number of passengers passing through the port from Sumatra to Java was recorded at 20.579 thousand.
