REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Publicly traded lender PT Bank Central Asia (BCA) reported a 24.2 percent increase in net profit to Rp7.9 trillion in the first half of the year from Rp6.3 trillion in the same period last year.
President Director of the country's largest private bank Jahja Setiaatmadja said amid economic uncertainty, the bank had proved to be highly resilient and able to adapt to situation full of challenges.
"Application of strict risk management has improved the quality of the bank credits and sustainable profitability," Jahja said here on Wednesday.
The bank's net interest income and other operating income grew 25 percent to Rp19.6 trillion in the first half of 2014 , up from Rp15.7 trillion in the same period last year .
Its net interest margin (NIM) also grew 50 basis points to 6.5 percent from 6 percent.
"This reflects a high yield of productive assets , higher than the increase in portfolio credits," Jahja said.
BCA outstanding credits rose 14.6 percent or an increase of Rp40.9 trillion to Rp321.3 trillion by the end of June 2014.
Corporate credit were recorded at Rp106.4 trillion , up 16.3 percent , commercial credit and credits for small and medium scale enterprise rose 14.9 percent to Rp127 trillion.
Its consumer credits grew 12.6 percent to Rp88.3 trillion and house credit (KPR) was 0.9 percent higher at Rp52.8 trillion and motor vehicle credits rose 16.8 percent to Rp27.3 trillion.
Its non performing loans (NPL) ratio was kept low at the level of 0.5 percent with reserve ratio of 368.1 percent.
Third party funds held by the bank totaled Rp421.2 trillion or an increase of 11.3 percent with giro and savings dominaitng third party fund by 77.2 percent.
